President Jokowi to discuss four strategic issues with Malaysian Premier

Kuching, (AntaraKL) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will discuss several strategic issues during the 12th annual consultation meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Mohamad Najib in Kuching, the capital of the Malaysian state of Serawak, on Wednesday.

"He will discuss four priority issues during the meeting with Prime Minister Najib, including strengthening economic cooperation, protecting Indonesian citizens and migrant workers, state borders, and defense and security," Bey Machmudin, the deputy for protocol, press, and media to the presidential secretariat, noted.   

The two leaders will also encourage the realization of commitments that the two countries have made.

In addition, the meeting will discuss various regional challenges that the two countries will face, he said.

President Jokowi, who departed from the Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in East Jakarta aboard the presidential aircraft Indonesia-1 at 6:50 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, arrived in Kuching at 9:40 a.m. local time.

His entourage included Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri, Chief of the Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong, Chief of the Presidential Staff Teten Masduki, Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs at the Foreign Ministry Andri Hadi, President's Special Staff Ari Dwipayana, President's Military Secretary Air Vice Marshal Trisno Hendradi, and Presidential Security Detail Commander Major General Suhartono.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi had arrived in Kuching earlier to make preparations for the president's arrival. (F Asegaff)
