Kuala Lumpur, (AntaraKL) – Malindo Air, CAPA 2016 Asia Pacific Regional Airline of the Year, commences its maiden flight to Phnom Penh, Cambodia today.
Malindo Air flight OD580 departed at 8:00 a.m. from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with 125 passengers onboard, including H.E Dato’ Sri Hasan Malek, Ambassador of Malaysia in Cambodia.
The inaugural flight received a warm welcome upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport (PPIA) with water cannon salute over the aircraft, followed by Khmer dance "Chhai Yam" to welcome the passengers.
A press conference was held with the local media to announce the official commencement of this flight.
Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Malindo Air said in line with our continuous effort to make KLIA a transit hub, we are flying into Cambodia, which marks the 16th country under our network.
Phnom Penh, as the capital city of Cambodia is an ideal destination for both business and leisure travel. This new route will strengthen our network with more travelers coming in to Kuala Lumpur or transit to the cities beyond.
"The approximately two hour flight is true comfort with Malindo Air," he added.

In conjunction with the announcement, Malindo Air is offering all-in one way introductory fares to Phnom Penh for Economy Class starts from RM139 & Business Class starts from RM749.
The promotional fares include perks such as baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment and in-flight meals.
Phnom Penh is an economically booming city located on the banks of the Mekong & Bassac rivers, which, boasting a bygone atmosphere inherited from the French presence in Cambodia.
